  • The first time Forrest Jillson and I skied this area, he said, "This is private as fuck." -- except for the 4 moose that chased us down like angry dogs and the red fox that poached our line getting first tracks for himself.

  • 8 years ago I had an avalanche accident. It took me 2 years to physically recover from the event and 5 years to mentally get over it. This season I skied off of Cody for the first time in 3 years--that's a story in itself. I was thinking about Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder. Then I just pushed off dropped the cornice and skied a line to the base of the Powder 8 Face. From there Forrest Jillson and Aurel Baker skinned to the top and were the first to ski the face that day.

  • I had been looking at this line on the peak across the street from my house for 2 years. In that timeframe I had to 1. make enough money to afford a snowmobile and then 2. learn how to ride a snowmobile to get to the base of the peak to then skin to the top. I enlisted two friends into my dream. After what became a simple 3 hour approach Forrest Jillson screamed past me as the sun set on the horizon.

  • When Forrest Jillson and I found this network of cliffs on the side of the trail we were snowmobiling, he thought it would be great to drop off of them, I thought the color of the licen would be the perfect match to his jacket. The dumping snow made me like it even more.

  • This one of my favorite shots from this past season. Aurel Baker managed to get a little bit of air while skiing away from me just as the sun set on our descent. For me this photo is all about the shadow, which shows the perfect form of a skier.

  • This past winter I wanted to come up some of the simplest and graphic design oriented compositions. This entailed finding locations that were devoid of vegetation but possessed some sort of graphic quality to them. Here Forrest Jillson and I discovered layer upon layer of powder ridgelines.

  • I have never been the extrovert photographer. I am kind of a quiet guy when at home unless I am yelling at my son about why it's not a good idea to play with matches and gasoline at the same time... In recent years though, when I see a photo, I just go after the shot regardless now. Up until this day I had never met Tim Durtschi, but where he was standing prior to his run in the 2020 Kings and Queens of Corbet's caught my eye for quiet portrait moment. I just asked and took the shot.
